- grew up in Lee, MA
- went to SUNY Potsdam. BA in Math and Computer Science ’84, MA in Math ’84
- studied part time at Syracuse University. passed qualifying exams for PhD in Electrical Engineering. i’ve got a lot of notes for my dissertation around here somewhere.
- live in Syracuse, NY in a creaky old house with a bunch of spiders.
- collect watches, read fiction, watch movies, play the piano

- Syracuse Research Corp — 1984 to 2001. research engineer and project manager. worked on radar simulation, electromagnetics modeling, graphics programming, high performance computing.
- Purplewire — 2001 to present. co-founder and CTO. work on system design, project management, systems and network administration, perl coding, and whatever else needs doing at the moment.

- started playing tournaments around 2002
- 17 final tables in “major” tournaments (i.e. big enough to be covered by the poker press) with 3 wins. see an almost-complete list of tournament cashes here.
- biggest cash: 1st place East Coast poker championship in 2005
- recent cash: chopped main event of 2012 Turning Stone Winter Meltdown
